Pets, rugs and door tracks: the small details matter.

What a feature can help with, and what it cannot guarantee.

Published 7 October 2026 · Practical guidance, not an installation certification

Pet hair is not the only pet consideration

A documented anti-tangle brush design is useful to compare, but it is not a guarantee of zero maintenance. Keep pet waste away from cleaning routes, inspect brushes and supervise the first few runs around feeding areas. None of our recommendations is a pet-waste-avoidance guarantee.

Choose a rug strategy

Check whether the model avoids carpet while mopping, lifts its pads or can leave them at the dock. Xiaomi recommends avoiding carpets thicker than 5 mm for X20+ and thicker than 8 mm, shaggy or fringed carpets for X20 Max. Those are model-specific limits, not universal rules.

A double-step claim is not a single-step claim

Crossing depends on the shape and spacing of a threshold as well as its height. A marketed double-layer crossing figure must not be treated as a guarantee for a vertical ledge of the same total height. Ask for a demonstration on the actual track or an equivalent profile.

Never ask the demo to certify your home

The animated robot follows a designed route in a stylised room. It demonstrates concepts; it does not calculate a real model's navigation, traction, coverage, cleaning time or obstacle-recognition accuracy.
